Can you tell us a little bit more about yourself?

I live in a small town in rural Germany. I've moved a bit, have lived in Arab republic of egypt with my parents when I was a teen or in Munich and Duesseldorf with my husband Joerg. Joerg and I have been together for 26 years and alive in a cute wooden firm from Sweden (which sometimes leads to discussions in my town because it's just not a house that you see very oft here!).

I studied English language/literature and media sciences and was as well lucky to spend a semester in Cambridge, England. You can definately say that I'grand a late bloomer, I did my A-levels through night school before I went to uni from which I graduated when I was in my mid 30s; I gained a second university caste in 2010 every bit a PR consultant. Groovy Britian is my love, our house is stuffed with English speaking DVD's and books, we even have a 2nd dish so that nosotros can watch English TV.

I'one thousand a freelance PR consultant but have to say that blogging starts to play a bigger and bigger role (which is a great affair!).

Equally a indicate of reference which age group practise you belong to or perhaps y'all are willing to share your age?

Of course, I don't have whatsoever issues sharing my age: I'll exist turning 44 in March merely have to say I don't experience like that at all!

Tin can you tell us a bit more almost your weblog LIFB and why y'all created it?

First of all I really take to thank Joerg! Information technology's down to him that I started blogging in the starting time identify because he encouraged me. When I was nonetheless at university I started to read a lot of English interior magazines (I beloved the English country manner – of course!) and engaged myself with lifestyle and so on, everything I personally loved and what made me happy. It has e'er been a dream of mine to exist an editor of such a magazine. Well, you should never stop dreaming right? I've never really made my way into such a paper but dear it to this day so one twenty-four hour period Joerg said that I should commencement a web log with all the things I love. At beginning I had another web log simply later on about 9 months felt that there was something missing. Then I started LIFB. This blog is about lifestyle, interior, fashion and dazzler, in short LIFB. I dearest working on my blog and lookout it develop. Joerg takes all my pictures and we mostly have a lot of fun together.

How would yous describe your own style?

My style is generally very easygoing. Of course I love to put on heels merely I'm not really a adjust person, it's not who I am. From a suit (I have i example in my weblog where I'm wearing the complete adapt which is very bold and looks fabled) – I would just wear the trousers, skirt or jacket and combine it with something else. I'm probably more than on the coincidental side with lots of classics that I love combining with It-pieces.

What would yous consider the most important components of your fashion?

I would say that my style reflects me every bit a person; a pair of plaid trousers or a plaid jacket is something I honey wearing. I love spicing it up with a great chapeau. I'm definately non a make clean style person simply more playful. Classics like a dufflecoat or a trench are a must for me but I love giving information technology a young look with great jeans, a pair of leather or plaid trousers.

kirsten6

Where practise yous live and how does that influence your style?

Hm, that'due south not an easy one. Where I live now – no that doesn't really incfluence me that much stylewise. Lots of blogs and magazines influence me and the stuff I love I attempt to adapt, even if it's not so typical hither.

I alive in Germany and we have the seasons (which I absolutely dear) and you lot have to take that into account. Right at present it's common cold and we demand lots of warm coats and jackets. But I'grand definately non a hot summer person. Maybe I had likewise much of that while I lived in Cairo. I prefer the cooler seasons. United kingdom has definately been a huge influence on me and because I'grand so obsessed with plaid, it's perfect. Lots of stuff I'yard wearing is non standard in my small boondocks but I don't care.

Do you lot feel yous have a signature style?

You find me wearing ruddy over and over again, be it a coat, shoes, a bag, a hat – everything. It'south a colour I love and that is very me. Apart from that, as I mentioned earlier my style is more playful, probably some would say young with lots of archetype pieces that I fashion up with trendy bits.

kirsten5

What inspires your outfit choices the most?

I would definitely say the Modern English Country, Equestrian and Military Style, I'chiliad obsessed with that. Some years ago Alexander McQueen had a stunning collection, Ralph Lauren also has some pieces I'm in love with (I don't dearest all Ralph Lauren but the edgier stuff is gorgeous!). I could totally run across myself living in an English Manor, having horses (although I don't ride!) and wearing this mode all twenty-four hour period! What I probably besides won't ever tire of is the preppy wait, it'due south just too pretty.

Practice you take things like color profiling or trunk type into business relationship when yous clothes?

For sure. Equally an example I can only wearable stiff, more bold colours, I love pastels but can't clothing them. My skin is stake and pastels make me look even paler and sick. I often wear bodyhugging clothes but I'm not running around in shorts or crop tops. Never really have, it's non my style. All the same, I have to experience comfortable in my clothes and sometimes a long, wide blouse over a pair of skinny jeans looks stylish also.

kirsten7

Has your way changed at all after turning 40?

Oh, information technology sure has! I'm not scared to effort things. For example: I bought my starting time lid when I was 42. Before that I thought I couldn't wear them and now I can't walk past hats. They are ofttimes the extra something! The internet specially has inverse things for me. Sometimes I'm online for hours and hours until I find what I'm looking for and check where to get information technology. I'm more courageous today than I was years ago and don't care when people await at me when I'm wearing my red Hunter boots (which are normal simply not here!). But it's even so a process and it'south heady. Can yous imagine that I had to be in my 30s to start wearing heels? Here we go again: Late-bloomer!

Exercise y'all believe in dressing 'age appropriately' and what does information technology mean to you?

Quite frankly, I hate that term! To me it simply doesn't be! It'due south ALL about the type, the personality, the body type and all. There aren't any universal rules. Some fashion magazines show collages with outfit suggestions for a certain age. Whenever I look at the 40 department, I think that information technology doesn't suit me at all, also colourwise. Everybody has to clothing something that suits her best, find out the assets and accentuate exactly that. If someone has a cool style, she tin can withal wear sweatpants and pumps in her 60s, I know someone who is 61 and dresses like a xxx yr old and information technology'due south then her, it looks fabulous, she pulls if off so perfectly.

kirsten4

Would you say that at this stage of your life you are now more, or less interested in fashion, mode and the way you look?

So much more which of grade has to practise a lot with my blog as well! I love trying things and yous should never stop trying because y'all tin can look fashionable at whatever historic period.

Why is the way you look important to you?

Information technology about certainly expresses my personality. I'k an low-key and lively person and this can be seen from what I'm wearing. Probably people know what to expect when they run into how I wearing apparel. It's so much fun for me to put together an outfit including hair and brand upwards.

kirsten3

Which of the outfits on your weblog are personal favorites and why?

Phew, I honey all my outfits on my blog but in general I dearest the ones with a trench or dufflecoat the most, combined with a hat and this is me. I love to make a trenchcoat look fashionable and not bourgeois (if that is the right term) by adding leather or something to make information technology wait modernistic simply classy at the same fourth dimension. This is what the Modern English State style to me is about, I love to explore that further. Last week we shot an outfit that I love so much and my hubby said I looked like I was going hunting – I loved it!

Do you follow trends? And if yeah, which trends excite you at the moment?

I do only I don't follow everything. When neon colours were trendy, I passed, I had that in the 80s and that was that. In general I'thousand very open to trends though I must say oft I'yard not willing to spend lots of money on them. I desire my investment pieces to exist classics and I'k willing for pay more simply non on hot trends. What I actually honey at the moment are the capes and ponchos, this is such a swell trend and is something that I can easily adapt.

kirsten2

Do you accept whatever fashion and style tips for women over 40?

Beloved ladies, please never think because y'all're 40+ yous can't look good or stylish anymore. On the reverse. You lot tin can change your whole appearance and have years off you lot depending on what you're wearing. If y'all're non sure what suits y'all, try to talk to a good friend or consult a passenger vehicle (a friend of mine does that; she goes to people and checks their closets and goes shopping with clients who are not sure what suits them). I try not to think about my age also much, I love fashion and remember if you wear something yous love, it just shows.

What are your plans for your blog and how do you see it develop over the coming years?

Of class my web log is a work in progress. I would dear to make information technology a big online magazine for girls and women. Young girls should see that being 40, 50 and so on is non what information technology used to be. I desire to encourage mature women that style is ageless and that they shouldn't be agape to but endeavor things, that fashion is fun (and not everything has to be expensive or designer clothes). Show off your mode and your animalism for life with a smile – it's how yous will exist perceived by your environs and information technology tin can have such a huge affect. Information technology gives you conviction and makes yous attractive, no thing how old you are.
